Before you go through the following questions, please note that our Library staff are highly committed to help you out. Please do contact us on an appropriate channel or meet us personally. We will be pleased to serve you.


Basic/ Facilities 

  1. What is the Library timing? Circulation Desk – 09:00 am to 05:30 pm. Reading Rooms timing: 08:00 am to 10:00 pm
  2. How many reading rooms are there? Three reading rooms in Central Library and one reading room in each School libraries.
  3. Are bags allowed inside the Library? You need to keep in the designated baggage counter.
  4. Is there any separate reading room for the research scholars? Yes, it’s on 2nd Floor of Academic Block IV.
  5. What is the timing of reading room/s? 08:00 am to 08:00 pm: Reading Room of 3rd Floor and Research Scholars’ Room, Academic Block IV.
  6. Is Wi-Fi facility available in the Library? Yes
  7. Is BYOD (bring your own device) permissible? Yes
  8. Can I get print outs from the Library? No
  9. Is photocopy service available in the library? Yes, Academic Block-IV, Ground Floor.
  10. Is there e-library or facility to access computers/internet/resource available? Yes, Room No.204, 2nd Floor of Academic Block IV. Timing: 09:30 am to 05:00 pm
  11. Is elevator facility available to reach the Library? Yes
  12. Is study room available after Library hours? No but common Study Rooms are facilitated in the new hostels.
  13. Is Library timing extended during the examinations? Yes

Circulation Desk
  1. How can I get to know what all books are there in the Library? Please access the Library catalogue which is accessible 24×7.
  2. How many books can I borrow and for how many days? 4 books for PG/ UG students for 15 days, 6 books for research scholars for 30 days, 4 books for non-teaching staff and 10 books for teaching/ other academic staff.
  3. As a guest faculty, how many books can I borrow and for how many days? 6 books for 90 days and renewal for another 90 days.
  4. What is the loan period of books?  For PG/UG students15 days and one time renewal for another 15 days. For researchers, faculty and staff, one month and one time renewal for another month.
  5. Can I borrow journals? No, you can refer to journals in the Library itself. However, you can borrow a journal for photocopying by depositing your ID card.
  6. What are the overdue charges? Rs. 2 per day per book for all users (students, faculty and staff).
  7. I could not return book/s on the due date. Will I be fined if I return book any day after the due date? Yes, fine will be charged after due date. This may include Saturday/Sunday/holiday/ working day, whichever is applicable.
  8. Can I pay fine amount by cash? Preferably online payment using UPI code/QR code.
  9. Can I pay by GPay or PayTM? Yes, you can by using any app. Scan QR code placed at Circulation Desk.
  10. Can I borrow theses and dissertations? They may be accessed at full-text level on ShodhGanga
  11. May I know whether Library has any eBooks? Yes, we have 6500+ eBooks in different subjects.
  12. Can I borrow book/s on behalf of my friend/classmate? No
  13. Due to some unavoidable reasons, I want to borrow book/s on behalf of my friend/classmate? Authorization letter to borrow on behalf of your friend/classmate is required.
  14. Can I return a book borrowed by my friend/classmate? Yes
  15. Can I renew book if it is returned late and fine is paid? No
  16. Can I get scanned copy of some of the chapters of a book? Yes

Reading Rooms
  1. How many reading rooms are there? Three reading rooms in Central Library and one reading room in each School libraries.
  2. Room numbers of reading rooms? 206 and Research Scholars Room, 2nd Floor and Room No. 335, 3rd Floor of Academic Block IV.
  3. Is there any separate reading room for the research scholars/faculty/staff? Yes, it’s on the 2nd Floor of Academic Block IV.
  4. Is study/reading room available after Library hours i.e. 05:30 pm? Yes, it’s available till 10:00 pm in main reading room located on 3rd Floor of Academic Block-IV.
  5. Is it allowed to carry personal books in the reading rooms? Yes
  6. Is it allowed to carry personal books in the SOE Library’s reading section? Till such facility is made, it is advised to use personal books in the main reading room located on the same floor i.e. 3rd Floor of Academic Block-IV.

Reference/ Information Services
  1. Where can I ask my reference queries? You can directly meet the Library staff or you may write to library@cuh.ac.in (with a subject line: “Reference Query”)
  2. I have some queries related to resources required for my research work. How can I get assistance? Please write a detailed mail to library@cuh.ac.in or meet the Library staff.
  3. I needed training/ assistance to access a software/ database. How does Library assist me? Please contact us for such assistance. We will be more happy to guide/train you.
  4. I wanted updated information/alerts on the topic I have chosen for my research/ project. Can I get? Yes, please share a detailed query with us for the appropriate guidance/assistance.
  5. The full-text article/s I need for my research/study are not accessible from our Library and the publisher is asking for hefty amount to access it/ them. How does Library help me in this regard? Please share the bibliographic details of such title or DOI. We will try our best to get the full-text document for you.

Plagiarism Verification
  1. Which software is being used to verify a document for plagiarism check? URKUND
  2. I have some queries related to plagiarism verification. How can I find answers? Please write to library@cuh.ac.in or meet the Library staff.
  3. Can I get access to plagiarism detection software? All the researchers and faculty members have been given access to the URKUND software.
  4. I need to submit my theses. I have checked through URKUND. Should I still submit it to the Library for final verification? Yes. Library checks the thesis and issues plagiarism verification report and certificate (only if the similarity index of the document is 10% or below 10%).
  5. Can I get plagiarism verification report and certificate if the similarity index of my thesis/document is above 10%? In such case, the Library issues only plagiarism verification report and not certificate.
  6. When I share my thesis to the Library for plagiarism verification, how can I trust the confidentiality? The whole verification process is confidential and the duly checked file is shared only with the Supervisor/ HoD/ COE.

Volunteer/ Library Friend
  1. I wish to join as Library Friend. What is the procedure? Please write a mail to library@cuh.ac.in (with a subject line: “Library Friend”).
  2. Is there any possibility of joining Library as a volunteer? Yes, please write a mail to library@cuh.ac.in (with a subject line: “Library Volunteer”).
  3. I am good at writing, content development, creative writing and proof reading. How can I use my knowledge and skill? The Library is seriously looking for such skilled students. We will definitely help such students to exhibit their talent in an appropriate place/ occasion.
  4. I am good at IT. I am ready to volunteer my service to the Library or any of the University related ICT work. How can I connect? We are certainly looking for such skilled students. Please write a mail to library@cuh.ac.in (with a subject line: “Library Volunteer”).
  5. I wish to join as volunteer of Peer Assisted Study (PAS) and Peer Assisted Learning (PAL). How can I join? It would be great opportunity for you to help/assist the students/researchers on the topics/subjects that you have already studied. Please write a mail to library@cuh.ac.in (with a subject line: “PAS/ PAL Volunteer”).
  6. Will I be paid for my voluntary assistance? Not really, but we will certainly give you an appreciation letter.
  7. I belong to Library and Information Science Course and wish to work in the Library (for a few hours a week/day) voluntarily without expecting anything back? Can I join? Yes, you are most welcome. Please approach our Assistant Librarian/s and they will guide you in this regard.
  8. Although I do not belong to Library Science Course but I want to work in the Library (for a few hours a week) voluntarily without expecting anything back? Can I join? Yes, you are most welcome. Please approach our Assistant Librarian/s and they will guide you in this regard.

General
  1. What is the procedure to get clearance from Library for my No Dues Certificate/Form? Please approach the staff at Circulation Desk who shall help you complete the formality on the spot.
  2. I want to donate some of my used books. What is the procedure? We accept such books however we may not add them in our collection but certainly share them with the needy students. You will get an appreciation letter from us.
  3. I want to donate some new books to the Library. What is the procedure? We accept new/old books however we may not add them in our collection in case we already have that/ those copies. However, we will certainly share them with the needy students. You will get an appreciation letter from us.
  4. I want to work in the Library for some hours under “Earn While You Learn” Scheme? Is there any scope? Yes. Please contact office of Dean Students Welfare for the detailed information or meet our Assistant Librarian.
Library Visit/ Visitors
  1. Can other than CUH student/faculty visit the Library? Yes, but with prior intimation/permission.
  2. Are outside faculty/researchers/students allowed to use Library facility? Please check this page.
