The state fish of Hawaii is the humuhumunukunukuapua'a! We know it as the Reef Triggerfish. In Hawaiian the name humuhumunukunukuapua'a means triggerfish with the snout of a pig! Which is appropriate because it can make grunting noises when it feels threatened.
This reef fish is a common sight in Hawaii while snorkelling, and preys on algae, crustaceans and snails. It can shoot water and sand out of its mouth to find buried invertibrates.
