Looking for a simple mead recipe? Make a gallon of honey wine with our tried & true recipe using our Mead Making Kit
- Honey (40 oz, any variety)
- Spring Water (just under 1 gallon)
- Yeast (5 g packet, we like Lalvin D47 or K1-V1116)
- Yeast Nutrient (11.9 g, we use a blend of Potassium Carbonate, Fermaid-K & Diammonium Phostate)
Our kit includes reusable 1 gallon fermentation equipment (+ sanitizer to clean it), yeast & yeast nutrient! Already have your own equipment? Try our mead yeasts & bulk yeast nutrient.
1. Fill the fermenter with a half gallon of water. Add your honey roughly a third at a time and shake well each time to dissolve.
2. Before adding any more water, add 5.3 g of Day 1 yeast nutrient. You'll added staggered doses on Day 2 & Day 5.
3. Top off to reach full volume & pitch the yeast.
4. Ferment for 30 days, adding 3.3g of yeast nutrient on day 2 and 3.3g on day 5.
5. After fermentation, bottle & age for weeks, months of years!
