Sometimes you open the grill to an orange surprise this is what I do.
FOIL: I use foil because I’ve destroyed several bq brushes with the grease rust etc and it’s impossible to get the residue off and you just spreading rust. I find foil has this restorative effect, seen people throw it in their dishwasher for an extra sparkle 👀
OIL: I find cooking spray the easiest in a pinch, if you were do to this just dry and raw no oil, the rust particles go everywhere 😷 and doesn’t work well just moves it around. The oil helps coat and gather the rust to be removed after. The oils protects as a moisture barrier after it’s clean so it doesn’t rust like a cast iron pan in the sink
PAPER TOWEL: this cleans all the oily rust residue away and is a good read for how clean the grills are so you’re not eating that 👀
NOTES: once you light the grill the oil will likely burn off not like a seasoned cast iron pan because it’s very hot when you grill. Ideally scrub the grill once youre done bbqing and give it a spray to protect it.
