Mexico and Qatar squared off at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Qatar got on the board in the 27', Hazem Shehata scored on a beautiful header. A controversial red card was given out in the 68' minute to a Qatar assistant coach, and a yellow to Mexico player Santiago Giménez. Mexico had several chances to tie the game in the second half, but ultimately fell short. Despite the 1-0 loss, Mexico won Group B and with the win, Qatar advanced to the quarterfinals.
