Published on May 8, 2017 How to use vinegar to kill weeds. Weed killer recipe: Mix 1 gallon vinegar and 1 tbsp. dishwashing liquid in garden sprayer and apply to weeds liberally. May mix smaller amount to use as needed. Vinegar is a natural product and usually contains acetic acid which makes vinegar a weed killer. It draws the moisture out of plants and is non-selective, so use caution if spraying near desirable plants. The soap is simply to help the spray mixture adhere to the surface areas of the plants being applied to.
