Cooling down orange in shadows can be tricky! šØš„ While we typically divide colors into warm (red, orange, yellow) and cool (blue, green, purple), every color has a warm and cool variationāwhich makes shadow mixing more complex.
A common mistake? Adding straight blue or a mix of green and red without a plan, which often results in muddy colors. Instead, try leaning into red, magenta, and violet to create depth while keeping richness.
Some of my favorite pigments for this are quinacridone magenta, pyrrole orange, and alizarin crimsonāgreat for acrylic, oil, or watercolor!
