🇫🇷 FRENCH SEAMS 🇫🇷
Perfect for those light weight fabrics where you want a clean, enclosed overlocker free finish, French seams really do elevate the inside of your garment! 👗
Here’s how:
1) Start by bringing your fabric WRONG sides together, this is so counter intuitive! Pin along the edge and sew at 3/8”. (Use a seam gauge to help you here).
2) Press open and trim the seam allowances down to 1/8”.
3) Now bring the fabric RIGHT sides together and pin along the edge again. This time, sew at 1/4”.
4) Press your finished seam towards the back of your garment and ta-dah! You’ve got super professional French seams 🌟
I love this method of seam finishing, it feels so special, even if it is a little time consuming!
