Greg Gumbel, the longtime sports host and play-by-play announcer who broke barriers in his more than 50 years in the industry, has died at 78. Gumbel called some of the biggest events in sports, including more than two dozen March Madness college basketball tournaments, two Super Bowls and the Winter Olympics. He was the older brother of former TODAY co-host Bryant Gumbel.
