Bangkok is cooking itself to death so I went to a cooler climate in Pattaya, Thailand. Pattaya was once a rest and relaxation spot for GIs during the Vietnam war. The Pattaya women served their other needs, and it never changed.
Pattaya has arguably the largest red district in the world. But it's also a popular beach vacation spot for Russians, Chinese, and Thai travellers. Then you'll see the old white men, packs of Indians, obese Russians, wannabe gangsters, real gangsters, and all sort of motley characters.
As a tourist destination I'm not sure. There are a few interesting sights like temples, water parks, aquariums, malls, all night massage parlours, and the ocean. But it's a very seedy, strange place. It depends what part of town you're in. I really like the streets back off the beach where it feels more like a real Thai city.
