A microscope is an instrument that magnifies small objects such as microbial cells, producing images with definitive structures that are identifiable and characterizable 1. The following are the structural parts of a microscope: Head: Also known as the body, it carries the optical parts in the upper part of the microscope. Base: It acts as the microscope’s support and carries microscopic illuminators. Arms: This is the part connecting the base and to the head and the eyepiece tube to the base of the microscope. The following are the optical parts of a microscope: Eyepiece: Also known as an ocular lens, it is used to view the magnified image produced by the objective lens. Objective lens: It is used to magnify the specimen according to its focal strength. Stage: It is a flat platform where specimens are placed for observation.
