Crimson Sweet is one of our favorite watermelon varieties to grow.
We have had a few absolute units of melons this year, and it can be tempting to pick them early. Getting the timing for your harvest wrong can mean you end up with a pretty bland watermelon. So what can you do?
Some people like to look at the color or listen to the sound. We prefer another method.
Right next to the stem of your melon, there will be a tendril. Wait for that to dry up all the way back to the main stalk. When it's fully brown, your melon is ready!
