When you stand completely upright and perform a triceps pushdown, your hips will typically block the bar and prevent you from using a full range of motion.
So instead, lean forward slightly and push your hips back while performing the triceps pushdown to give your lower arm more space to move. This provides a greater challenge for your triceps.
The same applies to rope pushdown variations. And if you are looking to try something new for your triceps, try doing a Double-Rope Pushdown, this further increases the range of motion your triceps go through.
