Wax dopping a stone is used to make it easy for the stone cutter to grind the stone. When making a cabochon cut stone this is very important. It helps to make sure that the stone is cut evenly.
Most stones are dopped to a stick or nail.
Having a jasper or agate on a dop stick will also increase your success rate by helping you make a beautiful stone with a wonderful finish.
