Cherimoya...some think it looks like an artichoke or an avocado. Some think it tastes like a banana, mango and pineapple smoothie. It is definitely a unique fruit, with a look and a flavor all its own! Robbie Sigona describes these locally grown cherimoya from Stepladder Creamery & Ranch in Cambria, Calif., one of our vendors from which we get cheeses, avocados and now cherimoya.
The delicate, green colored skin hides a custard-like fruit that can be scooped out and eaten as is or used in different recipes, like salads, salsas and smoothies. It also pairs well with seafood, such as shrimp. Remember to watch out for the large, black seeds! Check out some of our recipes:
