In this video, you'll learn how to pronounce the word 'gyro' in American English. IPA: /ˈʒi- ɹoʊ/, /ˈji- ɹoʊ/ This one is very tricky because the word GYRO can mean different things. But in case you’re talking about the Greek sandwich, which is very common in the US, you should know there is no D sound at the beginning. You either start with a J or ZH sound, as the ‘s’ in ‘pleasure’, or with a Y sound as in ‘yes’: ji-row or yi-row. And that’s right, it’s a changing vowel there at the end. Make sure your lips round to a W sound, as in ‘go’. Watch the tutorial and practice with me!
