Over the years, I’ve lost count of how many times people have asked me, “What’s the best place to start if I want to learn how to draw?” So, I decided to share some of my all-time favourite art books that have been game-changers for me: 1️⃣ For Absolute Beginners: Fun With a Pencil by Andrew Loomis If you’ve never picked up a pencil, this book is a fantastic place to start. It breaks things down in such an easy and fun way. 2️⃣ For Human Figure Drawing: Figure Drawing Design and Invention by Michael Hampton Want to learn to draw people from imagination? This book is gold. No model? No problem. 3️⃣ For Anatomy:Human Anatomy for Artists by Eliot Goldfinger This one dives deep into muscles and structure. Perfect for those who love the details. 4️⃣ For Color Mastery: Color and Light by James Gurney If you struggle with understanding color, this is hands-down the best book. And James Gurney is a legend—his videos are a must-watch too! 5️⃣ For Comics and Environments: Framed Ink by Marcos Mateu-Mestre This is an amazing guide for storytelling, environments, and inking techniques.
