John McIntosh, a Canadian farmer, discovered its sapling at his farm at Dundela, Ontario in 1811, after which he cultivated and sold the apple variety wit his wife. Now, it continues to be a popular apple variety worldwide and even inspired the name of Apple's MacIntosh computer line. #DYK
