Did you know that on July 2nd 1995 fans crashed the gates at a Grateful Dead concert being held at a venue known as Deer Creek in Indiana? The band was scheduled to perform two shows at the venue, but after fans tore down a barricade and rushed the venue, and a death threat was made against lead guitarist and vocalist Jerry Garcia, the band decided to cancel the second day's show. The band also cut their show short which led fans to riot, overturning police cars and throwing bottles at the police. The 1995 tour was plagued by tragedy ranging from three fans being struck by lightning in DC, to fans being injured when a porch collapsed at a camp ground in St. Louis. The band performed their final concert on July 9th 1995 at Soldier Field in Chicago. Then, Jerry Garcia died about a month later, pretty much putting an end to the band.
