This Carne Asada recipe is so versatile! Add to a salad, sandwich, taco or eat alone!
INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 lbs carne asada seasoned steak, thin cut (1/4-inch) chuck or round steak
1 Tbs vegetable oil, divided
1/2 large yellow onion, 1/4-inch julienne cut
1 green bell pepper, 1/4-inch julienne cut
1 Roma tomato, 1/4-inch julienne cut
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
flour tortillas
lime wedges
sour cream
avocado slices
salsa
hot sauce
DIRECTIONS
1. Let steak rest on counter to bring to room temperature, about 10-15 minutes. Heat a 12-inch cast iron pan over medium-high heat. When water droplets sizzle and evaporate, the pan is heated.
2. Add 1/2 tablespoon of vegetable oil and let heat until tiny wisps of smoke appear, about 2 minutes. Place one to two pieces of steak in the pan. Cook about 30 seconds and flip. Continue cooking another 30 seconds. Remove from pan and place on a plate. Tent loosely with foil. Continue process until all beef is cooked.
3. Add remaining vegetable oil to pan. Add onion, bell pepper and tomato. Season with salt and pepper. Sauté about 4 minutes, until vegetables are slightly caramelized but firm. Remove from heat.
4. Slice steak into 1/4-inch strips and add to vegetables. Serve.
