After months of lower-than-average, chilly, and sometimes wet weather, California will see its first heat wave of the season, thanks to a heat dome impacting much of the western U.S.
In response to the uptick in temperatures, officials are asking the public to stay hydrated, avoid sugary, alcoholic, and very cold drinks, and avoid outdoor exercising when it’s too hot. Hikers especially should be prepared when heading out during this time to avoid any injury or life-threatening situations.
