Detectives have released footage of the moment Lucy Letby was first arrested on suspicion of being the most prolific child killer in British history. Cheshire Police knocked on the neonatal nurse’s house just after 6am on 3 July 2018 in a moment Letby would later describe as “traumatic” to try and gain sympathy from jurors. In bodycam footage the then 28-year-old nurse, who is wearing a blue tracksuit, is seen coming into her porch smiling before answering the door politely. Moments later the detectives inform her they are from Cheshire Police and the neonatal nurse’s face drops suddenly. “Can I step in for two seconds”?, a detective asks. Letby replies “um yes” and they head inside the house. Less than 15 minutes later, a visibly distressed Letby is led out of the semi-detached house on Westbourne Road in Blacon by a uniformed officer. She has her hands cuffed behind her back.
