Henri Rousseau's 'Tiger in a Tropical Storm' Explained by Artist Balal Aquil Henri Rousseau painted Tiger in a Tropical Storm or also called “Surprised” in 1891 which is exhibited in the National Gallery in London. He portrayed a (comical) tiger, in an exotic landscape in a storm with lots of rain and a flash of lightning in the background, preparing to pounce on its prey in the midst of a raging gale.
