0321 Recon Reservist? 👀
After I posted my interview the other day with the 0321 Recon Team leader, a lot of you realized that he was wearing a reserve ribbon which indicates that he is a reservist but had no idea that was an opportunity that existed in the Marine Corps.
Yes, the Marine Corps does have Recon Marines who are reservists—However, their obligations are different than those on active duty.
Reservists work on average one weekend per month and two weeks in the summer. This allows them to maintain a full-time career elsewhere, well also gaining valuable training and skills from the Marine Corps but it’s not their full time commitment.
Active duty on the other hand is the exact opposite—it’s full-time, which means you’re a Marine 24/7 and typically don’t have a secondary job. This means you’re getting paid full-time and also have the ability to attend more schools than someone who does the same job in a part-time manner.
