The Ross-class starship represented a new modern approach to the legendary Galaxy-class design for Starfleet. As the design showed, it incorporated more modern Starship design components that were typically seen on the Sovereign-class Star ships such as the USS Enterprise-E.
Initially being designed alongside the Sovereign-class, to serve more diplomatic and exploration roles, compared to the Sovereigns approach to combat, he Ross-class would be active by the 25th Century.
