Growing up, I used to find Kewpie dolls at thrift stores all the time, and I thought they were equal parts a little scary and adorable. Cut to being in college, and my college christened a house, the Rose O’Neill house, right on campus—a house I walked past all the time. It turns out Rose O’Neill spent her final years in Springfield, Missouri. Funny how small the world can feel sometimes.
