Hours after Russia revoked the global test ban, the US conducted a nuclear test in Nevada. Russian lawmakers planned to withdraw on October 19, 2023, from a global nuclear test ban treaty. The 1963 Nuclear Test Ban Treaty was signed in Moscow by the US, Soviet Union, and UK. This policy prohibited all nuclear weapon tests except for those conducted underground. This experiment was conducted in Area 12's P tunnel at NNSS using chemical high-explosives and radiotracers.
