A preliminary magnitude-4.4 earthquake shook 4km away from South Pasadena on Monday.
At least one person was reported to be trapped inside an elevator in the city of Pasadena, an city official confirmed.
Shaking was felt across the Los Angeles region as well as northern Orange County and many other parts of Southern California.
