Daryl Hall and John Oates, aka Hall & Oates, are an American pop rock duo formed in Philadelphia in 1970. They achieved their greatest fame from the mid-1970s to the late 1980s with a fusion of rock and roll, soul music, and rhythm and blues.
They remain the most successful duo of all time, ahead of the Carpenters, the Everly Brothers, and Simon & Garfunkel. In 2010, VH1 placed the duo at no. 99 in their list of the 100 greatest artists of all time. In 2014, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2016, they received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
