While in Eleuthera, Bahamas, I stumbled upon a find that blew my mind. I have been searching for false window sphinx larvae (Madoryx pseudothyreus) for years and have never been able to document the lifecycle and while walking on a flat fishing for bonefish, I looked over and saw a black mangrove tree that had limbs totally stripped down and I knew what it was from! Sure enough, I found larvae and pupae of this tropical species. Check out this video showing off one of the ugliest caterpillars I have ever seen.
