Old Man by the Sea, oil on paper. I’ve been really interested the concept of painting subjects who are in the act of painting or writing. I’ve only done a couple so far, but for some reason the concept seems fun to me. I had this specific painting in mind for a few weeks before a finally got to it a couple months ago. Unfortunately, as with the previous piece of a woman painting herself, I was a bit disappointed by the result. Not that it’s bad - more so that I wasn’t able to accomplish exactly what I had in mind. Art does have its ups and downs, and perhaps I just happened to catch these in the wrong section of that curve. Still though, I will probably revisit the concept again.
