In the U.S., high school curricula vary by state. Surprisingly, 37 states don't mandate foreign language study for graduation. However, it's quite different in many countries globally. Take Iceland for instance, where students must learn Danish and English in addition to their native Icelandic tongue. Or Austria, where scholars must take 8 years of a living foreign language as well as 4 years of Latin. These requirements reflect diverse perspectives on education. While learning a new language can enhance cognitive abilities, cultural understanding, and global awareness, not every educational system prioritizes it.
