It was not that long ago that we’d hitch up our caravan’s electrics using a simple seven-pin plug to power the lights at the rear. It’s also likely that one of those seven pins might have been used as a charge wire to supply 12V and low amps to an on-board house battery. But times have changed. With larger battery banks to charge off the tow vehicle, the humble seven-pin plug no longer cuts it. That's one reason why Anderson plugs have become the standard.
