This engaging and informative video addresses a common misconception about the consumption of sugary fruits. Contrary to popular belief, eating tropical and other sugary fruits does not lead to obesity or diabetes. Our obese society has a diet heavy on animal products and refined plant fats, plus highly refined grains. It is not the fruit that caused them to get fat and diabetic. The populations that eat the most amount of fruits, and sugary fruits, are lean and healthy, plus they live longer.
Individuals who choose a Whole-Food High-carb Low-fat plant-based vegan diet and eat at least 2500 calories (for women, at least 3000 calories for men) reverse their chronic conditions DIABETES including, losing weight without calorie counting or excessive exercise, and ultimately lead to a healthier, longer life.
People fear sweet fruits because they equal these whole foods with table sugar. Nothing could be farther from the truth. The difference between the sugar found in fruits and processed sugars like table sugar is monumental. Fruit sugars come packed with essential nutrients and fiber, which promote healthy digestion and absorption. Also, every fruit is made out of thousands of molecules, which brings a lot of nutritional benefits to our cells. Fruits are not only sugar molecules. On the other hand, table sugar is an isolated element, devoid of all the other plant compounds. However, the difference between whole fruits and refined sugar is far greater than the difference between a pack of thousands of molecules compared with only one, isolated molecule. Those elements in fruits (and in all the parts of the plants, not only in fruits) work synergistically, so they are greater than the sum of their parts.
Fruits promote satiety with their fiber and water content, bringing just enough calories. On the other hand, refined sugars and all the foods that contain them (foods that have also flour, oil, and animal fats - all pro-inflammatory foods, etc) lack fiber and water, which make them very dense in calories per weight. That makes us overeat on calories without even reaching satiety and satisfaction with that meal.
